When it comes to transforming your garage into a room that’s the perfect reflection of you and your lifestyle, there are a number of areas that need to be carefully considered to utilize the space you have available. To help you understand how you can enhance each of these areas, over the coming month’s we’ll be taking a look at each one of these design factors to provide you with a series of exciting style guides.

Aimed at providing you with some much needed inspiration and an exciting range of ideas, we’ll talk you through every part of this often forgotten room to help you create a space that’s beautifully styled and wonderfully organised.

For the first in our series, this month we take a look at how colour can be brought in to the garage to bring your room to life. Whether you’re looking to adjust the feeling of your space with a unique tone, want to decorate your garage to reflect a certain colour scheme, or even want to theme the design of your room around your favourite brand or sports team, we’ve taken an in-depth look at how you can re-style your garage with the perfect paint finish.

Whilst many will feel that the garage is a rather dull, dusty and grey environment, there are a number of ways of introducing paint that will add excitement, personality and vigour, and the best place to start is with your interior walls. Although many garage owners prefer to keep the bare brick work and focus on the colour of their furniture, using a burst of colour on your walls will help to create a brighter, more enticing environment that you’ll love to spend time in.

Whilst the decision of what colour to paint your garage will very much depend on the furniture and décor that you’re looking to use, we’ve always found that using rich reds and greens are particularly effective as they contrast beautifully with the neutral colour of your cabinetry, giving the garage a very welcoming appearance. They also work well if you’re looking to introduce a theme throughout your garage, as they are colours that are consistently used throughout a number of brands including Ferrari, Aston Martin and Jaguar.

An alternative to these fairly warm colours is using a colour that will bring a cooler more relaxed feel to your garage. Colours such as deep blue’s and purple’s can add the perfect backdrop if you’re looking to create a garage that you can chill and unwind in. This works particularly well with an exciting lifestyle room such as a Man Cave or Sports Room, as they create a feeling of calm in a room where you can unwind in with Family and Friends after a long day.

The second area that is worth considering is the colour of the cabinetry you’re looking to work in with your new garage. Whilst Dura’s cabinets come in 2 standard colour finishes, we’re also able to create your chosen selection of units in any colour on the RAL chart.  Because of this, you can work the styling of your cabinets around the same colour choice as the rest of the garage, using either a similar shade as that used on your walls or a tone that contrasts perfectly against the backdrop of your walls.

To complete the full transformation, we’d finally recommend installing a bespoke range of garage flooring. With a number of options now available in the garage interiors market, finding a solution that is stylish, durable and the perfect colour for your setup is a lot easier than you may think. PVC Floor Tiles are now readily available and harder wearing than ever before and come in a range of 7 colour finishes to help you achieve the perfect match.

Alternatively, epoxy resin flooring provides a slightly more luxurious floor covering and can be customised with a unique selection of textures and colour beadings to create a style that is completely individual to you and your garage. Whether you’d like to embed a motif into the surface or introduce a contrasting colour that works beautifully against the finish on your cabinets and walls, with epoxy resin the floor of your garage can be tailored to your precise requirements.

We hope this helps to give you an exciting array of ideas for how you can introduce colour into your garage this year. In next month’s style guide we’ll be taking a look at how you can use different accessories and technology in your garage to create a truly interactive experience.
