Shmee150 chooses Dura for the Shmuseum Workshop
In 2023, Dura collaborated with Tim Burton, globally recognised as Shmee150, one of the biggest automotive content creators in the world. Working together, Dura designed and installed a fully bespoke workshop to his exact specification for his dream car garage build.
Known as the Shmuseum, Tim is transforming a former milking parlour on a farm outside of London into a totally unique space, inspired by the many garages that he has visited across the world over the years. The entire build has taken almost three years to complete and now offers space for more than 15 cars, plus office space and storage for the various pieces of automobilia Tim has collected from more than a decade of producing content online and travelling the world.
His collection of cars, known as the Shmeemobiles, includes supercars and hypercars from multiple top-tier brands, including Ferrari, McLaren, Zenvo, Aston Martin, Lotus, Mercedes-Benz AMG, and ultra-rare hypercars, such as his one-off Ford GT. Whilst his garage is unique with some extremely rare cars, the challenge Tim faced was one shared by home garages, dealer workshops, OEM workspaces and industrial applications: having a clean, organised space with an intelligent design that exactly meets your needs.
As we do with every client, private and commercial, we explored ideas with Tim to understand his requirements for the Shmuseum. Similar to OEM workshops, the space needed to offer flexible storage and work space for the various tools and equipment used around the space and on his collection of exotic cars.
Whilst Tim openly states he is not likely to use the space for heavy servicing, there are plenty of light-to-medium weight tasks that will be completed at the Shmuseum, plus the additional requirements of working on elements of the space itself, which continues to evolve.
Another aspect shared by the Shmuseum, and both private and commercial clients, is the need to customise the final look and feel. Where commercial customers can opt to incorporate their corporate identity, private clients can choose any combination of any colour to make their garage totally unique. For Shmee150, Dura included his brand colours across the entire design, with cabinets and back panels finished in his globally recognised colour scheme.
Like many private clients, Tim also desired storage, but with three very distinct requirements. The first was traditional, cupboard space to neatly and securely store items out of sight. Next, however, was the need to display product, with two tall open front cabinets chosen to display Tim’s partner sponsor products. Finally, Dura included a floating floor cabinet, enabling Tim to store his pressure washed with quick access – able to simply roll in and out of the cabinet without any lifting.
Somewhat unique to Tim’s requirements was the final look and finish. Whilst this is important for every Dura customer, it is rare for a workshop to be seen by millions of people on screen – although you can find Dura on the big screen in some of the biggest movie franchises. This was one of the main reasons Tim opted for Dura, as every single piece of every Dura workshop is finished to the same uncompromising standards.
The end result is stunning, perfectly reflecting the Shmee150 brand and providing Tim with a solution to every one of his requirements. When it was announced on his YouTube channel, it quickly gained more than 250,000 views with overwhelming admiration for his workshop and the wider Shmuseum.
